The Vauxhall Royale Coupé was introduced into the UK in October 1978 to run alongside the Opel Monza, this was mainly as a marketing exercise so that this large coupé could wear a Vauxhall badge. This model was originally launched with a 2784cc straight six engine fed by a dual register down draught carburettor. In October 1980 an additional 2968cc fuel injected model was added to the range and both models ran alongside each other until their replacement by the Opel Monza in October 1982.
